Outline of the experience

With tea or coffee on arrival, you will receive a brief history of our dairy and an overview of how cheese is made.

Working in pairs, we will be turning 5 litres of milk into fresh cottage cheese style soft cheese, starting from warming the milk, coagulation with vegetable rennet, cutting the curd, scalding, separating the curds from the whey, and creating a soft cheese. Herbs and spices can be added before filling pots ready to take home.

While waiting for the cheese to coagulate, we will go on a dairy tour of over about 30 minutes and will take you through the whole cheese making process from start to finish, including a visit to the CHeese Maturing Room, to see where the magic really happens where the cheeses might stay for up to 6 months and where they ripen and are look after carefully by our affineur.

A Tutored cheese tasting follows the cheese making where you will learn about the 7 main types of cheese and then taste up to 7 of our cheese, all made at the dairy from cow, sheep and goat milk.

Ideal for groups of 8 to 10 people, this cheese making experience is a very hands on fun and education experience, ideal for foodies, and will give you confidence to make a fresh soft cheese at home and to learn more about the cheese making process and the alchemy of how our cheese makers make such an array of cheeses.
