High Weald Dairy further improves its renewable energy credentials!
The latest acquisition at the Dairy has been a new boiler fed only by locally sourced wood. The sheer efficiency of it is great, so much so, we can run our factory's heating and hot water on an average of only 10 large logs per day!
In other news, our Cheese Courses are still as popular as ever but there are still spaces available. You are more than welcome to contact us and enquire for further details.

Sussex Cheese Bowling and the Peoples Picnic at the Brighton and Hove Food & Drink Festival 2011.
Despite the distinctly autumnal weather the inaugural Sussex Cheese Bowling was a great success. Held in Preston Park, Brighton enthusiastic cheese bowlers of all ages battled it out on the bowling green using High Weald Dairy bespoke, hand created ‘Saint Giles’ cheese bowls. One of our whole Duddleswell Sheep milk cheeses substituted as the ‘Jack’. The most accurate bowl of the day was delivered by one of the under 10’s!
The cheese bowling was followed by the Cheese Tossing competition using a 2.5kg Sussex Cheddar. The winning toss and catch being recorded at over 11m.
The day was supported by a number of producers offering delicious, seasonal and local produce and the event was kindly sponsored by the Southern Co-op.

A couple of weeks ago we were delighted to welcome well respected Brighton food writer, Andrew Kay to the dairy. Andrew has a food and drink column in the popular Latest 7 magazine that is distributed throughout Brighton, Hove and Sussex.
George Butler, Sarah, Mark and Guy Hardy would like to thank everyone who attended our Farm Open Day and who made the day such a success .
The day was very kindly opened by BBC Newscaster Katie Derham by cutting a whole, sheep milk Duddleswell. As we have had little to no rain over the past 3 months George also welcomed the down pours to get the grass growing again!
The animals on display included the cows being milked, calves, lambs, spaniels, ferrets, hawks pheasants and ducks. The Farm yard was also full of impressive looking machinery used in the silage making process.
The cheese dairy tours proved particularly popular with Mark showing over 200 people around the dairy whilst one of our star cheese makers Kitt, demonstrated the cheese making process in the food marquee.
The children enjoyed themselves getting very muddy in the clay making area, peddling madly on the Smoothie Bike, and face painting.
Our cheese was enjoyed over lunch in the form of a rustic Ploughmans and a delicious halloumi dish, and plenty found its way home as well - we hope you enjoy it.
We would also like to thank all our army of helpers who very generously gave up their time to make the day run smoothly. Thanks, also goes to Strutt & Parker and the NFU who very kindly sponsored the day.
Earlier in April as part of the Brighton and Hove Food and Drink Festival the Taste of Sussex Gourmet Bus Tour visited High Weald Dairy.
40 lucky foodies were whisked off in a vintage Routemaster bus on a tour of Sussex's food and drink hot-spots, including the Dark Star Brewing Company, Cocoa Loco, High Weald Dairy, The Talbot Inn at Cuckfield and Ridgeview Wine Estate.
All the passengers got to taste all of our cheeses and had a good look around the dairy. A indulgent day was had by all!
